So we knew the day would come when we would be forced to say bye bye to the naunie...But I never knew it would be this hard. Lorelei is one of those kids that has always loved her naunie. She takes it everywhere with her. She naps with it. She eats with it. She has been known to even bathe with it. She has never slept at night without it. Until tonight. See she has chewed through all of them in a matter of just a few days and out of fear that the tip will come off at night and she'd choke we decided tonight was the night we'd pack them up and mail them away to a baby that needs them more then her. It was soo sad to see the look on her face. It was as if she was thinking "hey wait a minute momma WHAT are you doing with my naunies?" She blew them a kiss and I took the box out of her room.
Then it was time for bed and of course the first thing she asked for was her naunie. UGH. I told her that she's a big girl now and remember we mailed the naunie's to a baby that needs them more then her. She said "Otay" and laid her head down and wimpered a little and then settled in. We started to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and she stopped me half way through and said "Momma my naunie?" And began to cry. I rubbed her little head and wiped her tears away and told her it would be ok and we'll get through this together. She fell asleep holding her blankey tight with one hand and the other was laid on her chest where her naunie normally would have been.
Who knew it would be so hard.... (sniffle sniffle)
